4.13 Tax Burden Comparisons

The Office of the Chief Financial Officer in Washington, D.C., compares the tax burden for one major city in each state. In 2000, with no income or sales tax, Anchorage, Alaska, ranked second to last (i.e., lowest) in terms of tax burden for a family of four making $50,000 annually.
